Open Carry Allowed at University of Texas. Dildos Follow.

In a move that flies in the face of any definition of common sense, the University of Texas has decided to allow firearms onto its campus.

It’s a decision that could wind up costing UT, with a number of faculty already deciding that they would rather take their talent elsewhere, than support the outrageous policy.

Daniel Hamermesh, an esteemed economics professor at the University of Texas at Austin, resigned in the wake of a new open carry law that could allow people to have concealed weapons in college buildings, saying that the new law enhances the “risk that a disgruntled student might bring a gun into the classroom.”

The law’s supporters argue it will help protect students and faculty in the event of a shooting. But Hamermesh, the Sue Killam Professor Emeritus, wrote in a letter to University President Greg Fenves disagreeing.

“The issue is not people like me, I’m small potatoes,” he says. “The real issue is that for Texas, for people who are thinking about coming here, they have lots of alternatives. The full letter was published by Texas’s KXAN.

Condemnation has been equally energetic from the student body. A student rally to protest the open carry policy is encouraging students to take dildos to classes, instead of guns.

The idea is the brainchild of Jessica Jin. The UT violin performance created the “Campus (DILDO) Carry” event on Facebook. Jin is promoting “the argument that allowing more guns on campus will make students safe is a fallacy. She’s urging students to send campus leaders that message by strapping on the plastic phalluses.”

“‘You’re carrying a gun to class? Yeah well I’m carrying a HUGE DILDO,’” Jin says in the group’s description. “Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play.”

If a shooter sees a group of dildo carrying students they are in trouble, but if a shooter sees people carrying guns they will go shoot up a gun free zone instead.
